View Full Version : Will Going Rogue reinvigorate PvP zones?

Do any of you think Going Rogue will help repopulate the PvP zones? I do!

Every time I ask about PvP in Hero broadcast on Virtue, all I hear about is how unbalanced it is. Now that the classes can switch sides, I bet you'll see a lot more villain classes fighting for Paragon City and vice versa.

And that will be really cool. I can't wait.

Doubt it.

Zone PvP in this game just does not work, the recent changes actually were aimed to Arena PvP and implemented to all PvP as a base to build upon.

Castle noted that zone PvP would need some other stuff and he is right.

Can't tell if this is still in his priority list, though.

Due to travel powers, open zone PvP in this game is an extremely difficult challenge.

The best thing the devs could do right now to invigorate PvP would be to make the Arena cross server. Who knows, perhaps the same for PvP zones would work.

Nope. DR, healing decay, and the fact powers do not work like do in PvE has hurt PvP post I13 and GOING ROGUE will not help matters much.

I don't see how both sides bringing the same 2 or 3 Archs would reinvigorate anything. Right now Heroes are forced to bring one thing and Villains another. It makes the sides mechanically different and varied.

Post GR? More Archs get obsoleted and the "old reliables" become twice as common since both sides bring the same Archs. Homogeneity FTL. A lot of great game play that currently exists will be lost post GR.

This is the last I'll ever say about crossover. I don't like it, but that battle is lost, so that's that.

PvP will stay dead as long as no one is feeling rewarded for PvPing.

I don' t PvP simply cause Id rather be getting XP, getting IOs or making inf. This is why we keep paying to play this game. PvP does not offer ANY of these rewards.

By itself I would go so far as to say it absolutely will not. Oh, sure, there'll be a few more fights as people get the chance to do AT-vs-AT combinations they could only do in Warburg before, but it'll be the same people as always fighting. By itself, AT side switching is not going to bring anyone back who left due to the I13 changes or attract anyone who wasn't interested in PvP before.

It may be fun for the people who currently enjoy PvP though. Both of them, even. :D

Remove healing decay and travel suppression, and I'd PvP again.

COX PvP was drawn and quartered, then burned with the ashes being dumped into the channel from the white cliffs of Dover.

No, i dont, not long term anyway. Perhaps at first briefly.

I don't think that ANYTHING will reinvigorate PvP in this game, assuming it was ever vigorous in the first place. As far as I can tell, the fact is most of the people who play this game simply aren't interested in PvP.

It's doubtful. The changes to PvP were for the arena. They weren't needed at all for base raids since there are actual goals other than simply killing your opponent(s).

The changes have actually harmed and bogged the zones down.

The only thing that may fix PvP will be a rethink of the changes and the devs actually reverting many of the I13 changes out and going in the direction that the players wanted instead of the opposite direction.

It was that way since release it was an epic failure

No.

Nothing can. It was tacked on as an afterthought and will always remain an afterthought. It is unfixable.

Best way to make sure your latest game feature is a success:

1) Release it with crippling bugs and issues.

2) Ignore those bugs for 6 issues before fixing them on accident when working on an unrelated issue

3) Tell the fans of said feature to screw off.

Follow these steps, and you're sure to have a winner on your hands.

Before the PvP changes I would occasionally stick my head in and join a fight or two.

After the changes I refuse to step foot in any of those zones.
