Then... don't set it to auto?

Oh, I know that. I don't want to have to pay attention to it so I live with the fact that it may activate right in the middle of my attack chain. Just a minor annoyance, but an annoyance none the less.

I dont like the click mez protection either, I normally ctrl click my taunt on all my tanks. Sheilds will change that for me, I have to ctrl click mez, call me lazy i guess.

I usually put a fast attack, like Brawl or Parry on Auto. Since I can only have One auto-power, I'd just as soon it Wasn't my mez-protection - that ought to be continual - hence a toggle.

I usually do a bind for scrappers and tanks that looks like the following:
/bind <key> "target_enemy_near$$follow"
It allows me to change from dead target to live target pretty quickly in melee and I've gotten adapt enough at using it where I can usually catch myself before it has me chasing a knockbacked enemy into more spawns, etc. For Shields and SR, I usually add my mez protection to the line in case I want to autofire Hasten or something like that. So it looks like:
/bind <key> "target_enemy_near$$follow$$powexec_name Practiced Brawler"
Sometimes you have to double tap it but with a little practice, I nearly always have my mez protection up.

I don't mind the click mez protection per se, but its Animation is huge PITA.
Long-[censored] activation time, and it puts your weapon away.
If your in the middle of a dangerous fight and mez protection runs out, what are you supposed to do?
Wish they'd swap the animation with one of the shield toggles.
And the endurance drain...
Frequent 0 end while the fight is only half over, then all toggles drop.
Feels like I never even took the fitness pool.
Never had this problem with the WP scrapper or the ice tanker (without energy absorption).
Even the below-20 stone tanker did better.
Why can't all the defense sets have some kind of endurance mod?

On a tank the mez protection needs to be changed. The entire team relies on the tank and therefore the tank should ALWAYS have their mez up. Slotting for recharge can make it perma but what are your supposed to do pre SOs? How are your supposed to keep the mez up if you've been hit with -recharge debuffs? I also agree with others that their does need to be an end mgmt tool in the set as well. I do like the set but there are some significant limitations. Will we ever see full access to scrappers? I understand there are some issues graphically but I was hoping to make a claws/shield scrapper. On an end intensive set like shields being used by a scrapper players should have access to end effcient primaries maybe a new version of existing powersets or new shield friendly powersets is the answer.

My favorite character is, by far, my Claws/SR scrapper. Coming from that set, Shields thus far has been an awesome tanker set for me. I had endurance issues before stamina... but so do most sets (dark/dark brute much?).
For those who like toggle mez protection, consider that anything that manages to drop your toggles can drop your mez protection. Click-mez protections, like SR or Shields, aren't subject to toggle-dropping.

Toggle Dropping isn't an issue for such toggles anymore. Not for several months now.

Practiced Brawler, Active Defense, etc should all act like like a break free IMO.

To be honest, I find my shield/ss tanker's performance to be quite high. Granted, I also took tough and aid self, though I'd take similar steps to fill in the gaps of other sets, (like acro on my em/da brute or tp on my ss/stone brute).
I would like to see the status protection click at least not root you and/or have its animation be interruptable.
I ended up skipping grant cover on one of my builds since its defense bonus isn't really that useful to my teammates; in situations where the defense would be very helpful to them, what I can provide simply isn't enough. If you had multiple shield defense users on the same team, all w/ grant cover, once would tend to ask why aggro isn't being handled well enough to *not* need that defense in the first place...
