View Full Version : AT reps?

Does each AT have a rep or is each AT supposed to be getting one? I think I've heard of _Castle_ as being the Stalker AT rep, though he does a lot of communicating to the community. Are there any other reps or are there going to be? Does anyone know?

There was mention of it a while ago, but I think the idea was nixed, or at least put off for some further date. I do like the idea though, and wish they would implement it. Just so that way there is one Dev for the tankers to talk to, one for MMs, etc.

I wish Castle was the dominator rep :(

Castle is the defacto AT rep for everyone at the moment.

Which really kinda sucks for him, since I doubt that was in the job description.

Jonyu = Brute rep
Statesman = Dom rep
Positron = MM rep
Devastatus = Corrupter rep
These were all confirmed in beta.
Statesman posted once, I think, about Doms back in beta. He said the animation times on Mind/Psi irritated him and he was going to cut them down.
Devastatus posted a few snarky comments on the Corrupter boards in beta, generally made himself disliked, and hasn't been heard from since.

That was the plan. As everyone knows, though, plans only work until you actually engage the enemy.
I'm not sure what the status of this is, but we've not forgotten about it.

How about hounorary Reps? I mean if Cuppa can work with you guys near the Bay from Texas then the right volunteers could probably do it too. All they'd need are the XLS power spreadsheet files ... which really, we'd ALL have access to if Statesman wasn't being such a tightwad about Stats...
Blizzard did it and it didn't hurt them one bit ... eventually people were going to get that information anyway. And in a number of cases, it prolonged the life of the game for many people.
It sounds like the problem at Cryptic, is a slow rate of information sharing and it gets buried when it does get shared. So us forum people aren't the only ones experiencing frustration over this.

Rep? as in Representative?
No one person who plays a scrapper, blaster, tank, controller, defender, Peacebringer, Warshade, Brute, Stalker, Corruptor, Master Mind or Dominator has a right to speak for me or anyone else in the forum community.
That's why these forums are here - so we ALL have a voice. Now, if there is a company hired Mod who acts as Liason for each AT -- well, that's not a great idea, either. Even CoH has got some folks who are more personable than others, and more likely to get their ideas passed, while the not so charasmatic person might not be able to "represent" very well.
No, like it or not, the current system of an occasional PM and posting on the forums may be a bit slow, but it does seem to be effective. I say leave well enough alone.

Err... rep as in Cryptic representative. As in, while you are exercising your voice, the idea was someone would be specifically responsible to actually be listening.
Think of it as each AT's assigned advocate within the dev group.

The enemy? :) Too easy, I'll leave it.
But, wouldn't there have had to have actually been AT Reps before first contact ensued?

I think you will find that very many people (I dare say a majority of people) on this forums would disagree with you violently that past methods of communicating with the devs have been effective in general.
What an AT community rep would do is focus on the input and feedback from the forum (and other sources) for one particular AT. They would be the ones listening to us and taking our feedback to the rest of the dev team. By focusing on one AT they would hopefully maintain a consistent focus and understanding of the issues. To some extent I would expect them to champion our causes, distilling our input/arguments for presentation to the other designers and programmers.
I do not see that as likely to be a bad thing. Whether it actually happens or not remains to be seen.

Nah. I suspect "the enemy" was more like the personnel or budgeting department.
