Hope this doesn't get him deluged with PMs. But OTOH I felt he deserved public kudos.

After reading the thread about Increase Density, where he talks about the mode of buffs (Replace vs default), I sent him a PM asking if we could have some powers fixed:

Smoke Grenade, Smoke, etc, lose debuffs for a second when replaced, in order to avoid stacking. As did O2 Boost, and as did Burn. In contrast to other powers like Clear Mind, Practiced Brawler, etc, which can be reapplied without dropping their buff (or debuff).

His reply was very helpful:

FYI, if you didn't know, some of these powers have been bugged for over a year.

It's amazing how effective Castle is, and unfortunately, it makes the rest of the Devs look rather negligent, when I see that easily 2/3 of the bugs squished in the last few months are due to Castle looking into the matter. I just wish that there were a few more like him on staff, looking to fix problems, rather than more designers, who look to create more powers/content/whatever. I'd rather have a little bit less game and have it be working right, than have more and have it be buggy.

You're absolutely right, Blacksly! For fixing/debugging problems, Castle's either the best or most visible dev there is. Honestly speaking, I'm shocked that some other dev hasn't done what he's doing right now already. It seems like a no brainer if you play this game alot and try to have fun with it.

More than any other dev, I honestly think Castle has the "Player's Perspective" down. It's very easy for him (methinks) to see things from our side of the fence. And that's what makes him so insightful about what we want, imho.

Hush!!!!! He just told the blasters that he would look at their issues. My lvl 39 Blaster is my new "main" and doesn't want him distracted with everyone bugging him about bugs.

And next, my true main - lvl 50 Tank - wants him to look at the tank issues (although I think the defense change and moving-target bug fixes will go a long ways for them).

So everyone else just leave him alone. He's mine. You can't have him.

Looking at blaster issues? He just started to scratch the surface of defender issues. He looked at our list, responded to each and every point, and by doing so revealed some relatively major imbalances that basically end up with defenders getting shafted. I really like his system with the consolidated threads and responses, it works quite well. Even when the news isn't good (as Arrow just found out :( ) knowing someone has taken a look at the issue goes a long way towards keeping people informed and keeping discussions on track.

I salute all the dev, GMs, and designers. Sure, they have made mistakes in coding and in public relations. But everyone makes mistakes.

_Castle_ is very visable and has a can-do attitude and deserves the compliments in this thread. But I'm guessing there are a lot of behind-the-scenes folks that help a bunch too.

I am finally over my beef about the Em Nerf becase Castle actualy Apologized! (that ANd he responded toa pm where i was overing programing advice and he didn't just blow off my thoughts outright...though i stick think they has to be a way to prevent the death cast bug, just wish i knew more about how the system records Death. If i knew a bit more about how it registers pc and NPCV death im sure i coudl figure out how to kil the Death Cast Bug)
